Job overview

The Governors wish to appoint an experienced enthusiastic and inspirational person who will lead our efficient and highly motivated safeguarding administrative team. Managing the team, you will help us to continue to deliver an excellent experience for our staff, pupils parents and visitors.

Education and experience

Person Specification

  • Relevant training and qualifications for working with and supporting young people e.g. social work, youth work, teaching, careers work, counselling
  •  Evidence of continuing and relevant professional development
  •  Be up to date with current practice relevant to the role e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, latest Ofsted framework recommendations
  • To have previous successful experience in working with young people on an individual and group basis in supporting their learning and development
  • Proven evidence of impact of management skills or the potential to lead and manage others


Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Ability to engage constructively with and relate to a wide range of young people and families/carers with different cultural and social backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively with and command the confidence of teaching and senior management within the school
  • Ability to engage constructively with external agencies to ensure that students and families are supported
  • Ability to assess and review young people and family circumstances and plan appropriate responses
  • Ability to identify potential barriers to learning and jointly engage in strategies to overcome these barriers
  • Ability to engage in joint goal setting with the individual child as part of the learning action process
  •  Ability to work effectively with a wide range of support services
  • Demonstrate competence in networking, counselling, facilitating, and developing others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate proficiency in use of ICT packages including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate own and others’ performance and achievements both quantitative and qualitative
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality education through promotion of equality and diversity.
  • To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school


This is a fixed term position from 1st March 2023-31st December 2023.
