Job overview

With your background experience in education and knowledge of school sport you are now looking for a role where you can develop your expertise and have a positive impact. Look no further than this Development Manager role at the Youth Sport Trust. We want you to provide leadership, creativity and direction to our secondary school offer and support, designed to harness the power of sport to enhance wellbeing, build leadership and raise achievement.

As Development Manager, you will nurture and support a network of lead schools and practitioners to transform physical education in secondary schools nationwide. Additionally, you will drive the development of our achievement work to ensure the impact of PE, school sport, physical activity and active learning on young person outcomes and school improvement are recognised and celebrated. We will look to you to maximise and grow our intellectual property and delivery offer across secondary schools. You will make sure programmes are positioned clearly and work with fellow Development Managers to develop and implement innovative approaches, resources, events and projects that improve the quantity and quality of learning in and through this curriculum subject. Your remit will also include building internal and external relationships and rapport with parties from government and public funders to sports organisations and corporate partners. Important will be the ability to ensure efficient and effective internal and external stakeholder communications.

Much of your success will depend on you having experience in the Education sector of delivering high level development support and thought leadership to schools, PE departments and other education institutions. You will have provided assistance and guidance to a network of professionals as well as been involved in the development of young people. You must also have sound knowledge of the latest developments in education and education policy as well as a good understanding of cross-curricular design, development and pedagogy and the value of PE and School Sport.

Effective at motivating teams, you will possess excellent communication, negotiation and project management skills. Used to controlling budgets, you will also be good at building relationships, overcoming problems and prioritising activities.

The Youth Sport Trust is a passionate and forward thinking organisation full of committed professionals. As a member of the PE and Achievement team and wider organisation we guarantee you will feel very much part of our mission and will experience fun, challenge and fulfilment in your role.

The Youth Sport Trust believes that diversity drives excellence and that representation is important. The Youth Sport Trust therefore positively welcomes and seeks to ensure we achieve diversity in our workforce and that all job applicants and employees receive equal and fair treatment. We encourage applications from all candidates regardless of age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.
