Tes is supporting the appointment of a Digital Leader and Teacher of Computing for this opportunity to work in one of Kent's leading Prep Schools. This is an independent preparatory school which educates pupils from 3-13 years. The school has access to more than twenty acres of attractive grounds, on the northern fringe of Tonbridge, Kent. 

The school are looking to recruit a full-time Digital Leader and Teacher of Computing who has a passion for teaching to the highest standards to join their hardworking and supportive team. To be considered for this position you must be a graduate with appropriate teaching and subject qualifications and experience.

Job Description

Reports to: Deputy Head

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected:

  • To teach Computing across the school from Year 1 to Year 8
  • To plan, develop and maintain Long and Medium Term Plans and policies for Computing in line with school policies and practice
  • To lead and develop the Digital Literacy Strategy across all areas of the school
  • To lead and manage the development of the Learning Platform training staff and pupils in its use in collaboration with the Director of Studies
  • To lead any new developments of technology across the school 
  • To collaborate with the IT operations engineer to ensure that the resources are well maintained 
  • To be the ‘go to’ person for staff who may need support with regards to IT in collaboration with the engineer
  • To keep up to date with current and new educational developments both in Computing and in the use of technology in classrooms
  • To deliver training for staff in the use of technologies 
  • To lead the provision of training for online safety for students, staff and parents
  • To review the Online Safety and IT usage policies in line with Alpha Plus requirements 
  • To carry out the duties of a Head of Department as specified by school policy 
  • To attend Alpha Plus technology forums and any other CPD as required.
  • To carry out regular staff duties on a rota basis, attend parents’ evenings and other meetings as required by the school

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

The person appointed should: 

  • Be a graduate with appropriate teaching and subject qualifications and experience
  • Be able and willing to teach computing across Key Stages 1-3
  • Possess excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Be an enthusiastic colleague with a passion for their subject
  • Be prepared to lead and enter fully and whole-heartedly into the life of the school
  • Have determination to ensure that every pupil fulfils their potential 
  • Have a strong commitment to effective learning and teaching
