An energetic and fast-paced marketing department within a leading girls school looking for a creative, ambitious and enthusiastic marketing officer with responsibility for digital marketing. This is a great all-round role and the post holder will develop their existing communication, media, advertising, publication and public relations skills. 

You will be involved in creating compelling and dynamic digital marketing content and campaigns to raise the School’s profile and achieve recruitment targets through the School’s Website, social media and other digital platforms. You will be innovative and creative, and your work should ultimately lead to the generation of new enquiries.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering traditional and digital marketing campaigns. You will have demonstrable, strong skills in all areas detailed within the job description, with an emphasis on excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Education experience is preferred but not essential; however you should be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of student recruitment and conversion marketing.

The Digital Marketing Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing the Digital Marketing Strategy. You will be the driving force behind digital campaigns including web, SEO, social media, and email across The Abbey. Metrics and analysis are important to us and shape future decisions, this will be a key aspect of your work. Most importantly you will drive the growth of digital.

This role includes out of hours work throughout the academic year.

Marketing Experience of two years preferred.

Key Duties

● Development of the annual digital marketing strategy for The Abbey (to include the Nursery, Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form)

● Develop and manage the Social Media strategy

● Development and management of digital marketing campaigns (utilising a range of techniques including paid search, SEO, Google Awards, digital advertising and social media) to raise awareness and drive online traffic to the School website

● Maximise the impact of digital content across all platforms, provide analytics on ROI and use data to provide recommendations and inform future strategies

● Continuous monitoring of digital marketing trends and contribute ideas for new approaches to digital marketing to optimise the use of the School website and increase conversion

● Monitor competitor digital activity across all platforms and make recommendations for future School activity

● Work with colleagues across all areas of the School, to develop and deliver engaging content to showcase the School

● Use digital marketing tools and best practice to ensure that all digital marketing is both effective and tracked to improve the student journey and School recruitment.

● Utilise graphic design software to create engaging visual content for both digital and print purposes

● Review new technologies and keep the School at the forefront of developments in digital marketing

● Track the success of online marketing campaigns and present findings to management

● Plan and produce a social content calendar, working with key areas across the Schools

● You will manage the day to day updating of the external facing website and lead on the delivery of the biannual School newsletter, The Magnolia

● Contribute to the redesign of the School’s website – improving the usability, design, and content

● Monitor trends in design and produce eye-catching, engaging content such as infographics, videos, blogs and more

● Write content for both print and web including the company website, weekly newsletter to parents, programmes, booklets, posters and flyers

● Profiling and communicating achievements of students, staff and the School via online channels, including School events and activities

● Find and develop case studies to use in a range of marketing materials

● Assist with media and public interest enquiries, events and general marcomms activities as required

● Attend events (including out of hours at evenings and weekends) and take photography and video for marketing purposes

● Support other members of the External Relations department and wider School support team

The Abbey School is a dynamic and vibrant community of more than 1,000 girls aged 3-18.

The Abbey is always in the top division nationally in academic terms. This year's A-levels were excellent with 75% at A*- B and at GCSE 88% gained 9-7 grades. Annually the average International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma result is between 38 - 40 points, with more than two thirds of the cohort scoring 38 points or higher, at a level equivalent to or exceeding the Oxford and Cambridge conditional offer range. In the School's 12 year IB history several students have gained the full 45 points possible. Leavers go on to an impressive list of universities and courses. 

The school places great emphasis on providing a breadth of sporting and cultural challenges and opportunities for each student. Students are presented with the chance for exploration both within the curriculum and in Music, Drama, Sport, DofE and the wide variety of clubs and trips. The Jane Austen Wing at the Senior School has modern classrooms for Humanities as well as bright Art studios and enhanced ICT facilities. The IB has widened the options for Sixth Formers who can also choose their desired A-level combination from a wide range of subjects.    

The Abbey Junior School (ages 3 - 11) offers a broad curriculum and the atmosphere is friendly, lively, purposeful and fun. 

There is an extensive Abbey School coach & bus network and the School is within easy walking distance from Reading Station. There is a range of scholarships and financial assistance is offered to able students through means-tested bursaries which may cover up to 100% of fees for exceptional candidates.
