DIS was established in 2005 to provide a high quality British/international education to both expatriate and local children in Dubai. It has quickly grown and progressed to become one of Dubai's most highly regarded British/international schools. Its initial enrollment in 2005 was approximately 300 students, and in 2017-2018 it has exceeded 1,600 students.

About the Position:

The Director of DIS is responsible for leading the school’s team of administrators in the day-to-day management of its academic/educational operations. The Director also works with the CEO of the Al Futtaim Education Foundation (AFEF) and other AF Board members on the formulation and implementation of new ideas and strategies to continually enhance the quality of the school’s educational programmes and offerings and enhance the life of its community.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, personal attributes and characteristics:

  • An internationally recognised University Degree.
  • A professional teaching qualification and possess an outstanding teaching and leadership track record.
  • A proven track record in educational leadership, including a minimum of three years of experience as the Head of a high quality British or international school.
  • Have experience and a successful record of delivering results, year on year, through senior level leadership of a school.
  • The ability to lead and work collaboratively with a large and talented team of teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Display a passion for education with the drive and dedication needed to inspire the achievement of academic excellence.
  • Be able to demonstrate high levels of ethical and professional standards.
  • The ability to recruit and retain outstanding teachers and senior leaders.
  • The flexibility to learn and adapt to new cultures and situations.
  • Be internationally minded and open to new experiences.
  • Committed to inclusive education and the firm belief that all children can succeed.
  • Have a high degree of competence in administrative/management systems and processes.

Preferred attributes:

  • Previous experience with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
  • A Master's degree relative to Education or Educational Management.
  • Have experience in, or be familiar with, the Middle East and/or Arab culture.
  • Experience as a school leader in a 3-18 school.
