Olive Academies is one of the first multi-academy trusts to specialise exclusively in alternative provision.  We support children and young people who have experienced significant difficulties learning in mainstream schools. We work with children who are at risk of exclusion, those who have been permanently excluded from school and those who have medical needs. Our academies and our outreach service for schools are growing and the Trust is now looking to appoint a Director of Academies. This is a significant appointment for Olive Academies. The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO of the Trust and will be a member of the central Strategic Leadership Group. 

The Director of Academies will have strategic responsibility for all aspects of the implementation of our curriculum and delivery of the teaching and learning strategy across our academies.  

The post will be based in all three of our academies (across East London and East of England) and will require close collaboration with headteachers, senior leaders and members of the Academy Advisory Boards. 

The Director of Academies will play a leading role in supporting academy leadership development, strategic planning and self-evaluation, raising student attainment, achievement and behaviour, curriculum planning, safeguarding, recruitment, performance management and professional development.  

Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate an outstanding record of successful leadership in secondary phase settings.

Our academies

Olive AP Academy - Havering 

Our alternative provision academy in Hornchurch, in the London Borough of Havering, supports up to 64 young people aged between 11 and 16 who have been permanently excluded from school. Find out more at www.aphavering.oliveacademies.org.uk

Olive AP Academy - Thurrock 

Just 40 minutes from central London by train, our alternative provision academy in Tilbury is based in a brand new building with fantastic facilities supporting up to 96 students aged between 11 and 16. Find out more at www.apthurrock.oliveacademies.org.uk

Olive AP Academy - Suffolk 

Our academy in Stowmarket supports pupils aged between 7 and 16 with complex needs and those who have been permanently excluded from a mainstream school. The academy has up to 92 pupils on roll at any time and also offers outreach support to pupils in mainstream schools who are at risk of exclusion.
