This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to play a pivotal role in leading the Admissions Department at one of the UK’s leading independent schools. 

Drawing on your strong leadership skills, the Director of Admissions will develop the strategic vision of our Admissions Department, devising strategies that boost pupil growth whilst also expanding Uppingham's presence in the independent schools sector.

To achieve this, you will: 

  • Ensure the school meets pupil recruitment targets
  • Lead a team of admissions professionals ensuring high standards of professionalism and customer service
  • Act as the main point of contact for prospective parents and pupils, whilst also cultivating relationships with feeder schools, agents and educational consultants 

The goal is to deliver an excellent standard of service and as Director of Admissions, your role is key to ensuring that every prospective family feels valued and respected, whilst also fostering a positive, dynamic culture within your department.

About you

We are looking for a personable and experienced leader, with excellent communication skills and an outstanding track record in delivering sales targets.

With excellent management skills, you will have experience of leading an admissions/sales (or similar) department within a medium to large organisation.

Strong communication, IT and organisational skills are also essential, along with a demonstrable track record of strategic planning, innovation and imagination.

Uppingham School is a mixed, Church of England independent secondary school with sixth form and boarding, located in Leicestershire. The secondary school, situated in Uppingham has approximately 791 students on record.

Uppingham School was founded in 1584, originally as a school for boys. In 1975 girls were admitted, and it became fully co-educational as of 2001. The majority of students attending the secondary school are boarders.

Work is generally presented neatly and pupils’ note-taking is effective. They develop good numeracy skills and their capacity to think critically is notable. Creative abilities are well developed and their exploration of ideas is particularly marked in their enrichment activities. Pupils’ study habits are good. In the lessons observed, pupils worked very well with each other, and also worked well independently. They enjoy their work and this stems in part from the good-natured atmosphere in lessons. Pupils use information and communications technology (ICT) proficiently.”
