Job overview

Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT) is a large Multi-Academy Trust with 36 academies and over 17,000 pupils. We focus on transforming the life chances of our pupils by ensuring that every child can succeed, despite the challenges they may face.

The role is a combination of school improvement, governance and strategic system leadership. It will involve working primarily with academy senior leaders for attendance and behaviour as well as Principals, other senior and middle leaders and practitioners to effectively self-evaluate and deliver high-quality education provision, through robust and ambitious improvement work.

The Role

Your duties will include working across all academies working closely with members of the secondary team, which consists of two Education Directors, a Director of Vocational Curriculum and Directors of Teaching & Learning and two advisers who support with Careers & Employability. The team is also supported by the Trust’s Data Manager to ensure the very best outcomes for pupils. The main purpose of the role is to:

  • Provide the vision and leadership for improving attendance and behaviour within the secondary phase, notably for those pupils who face additional barriers such as high levels of disadvantage
  • Steer the Trust Character Assurance Board, alongside the Director of Education
  • Develop Trust wide strategies and provide bespoke support to Principals and academy leaders on the best ways to improve attendance and behaviour
  • Be accountable with other leaders for improving the quality of education across the secondary schools
  • Develop relationships and collaborate with external partners, including local authorities
  • Work closely with the Trust Data Manger to ensure effective data systems to monitor and analyse attendance and behaviour

Whilst there are phase-specific teams, the GAT has a 3–19 education strategy, with opportunities to work with colleagues from primary and special schools.

About you

To be successful, you will be an outstanding and inspirational leader, who is committed to the GAT ethos with a passion for ensuring that all pupils achieve their potential.

You will have a proven track record of raising attendance and improving behaviour and up-to-date knowledge of secondary education and national policy through recent successful leadership experience as a Principal/senior leader or comparable adviser/improvement partner. Ideally, you will have experience across a range of school contexts, including those serving the most disadvantaged communities.

In Return

Being part of the GAT, you will be joining a great team with the opportunity to receive excellent career development opportunities and access to bespoke CPD.

We believe in looking after the people who make a huge difference to our children, their families and the communities we serve. That’s why we give everyone who joins us a Perkbox account – with 24/7 access to perks and discounts, plus curated wellbeing tools to look after your physical and mental health.
