Job overview

Our students come from all walks of life, and we want our staffing body to be reflective of the communities we work within. Brooke Weston Trust does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, nationality, culture, age, disability, marital status or socio-economic backgrounds. We encourage and welcome applications from minority groups and foster a work environment that’s inclusive as well as diverse, where people can be themselves.

About Corby Technical School and the Director of Computer Science role

Our intake is expanding and we want you to grow with us and join our team dedicated to providing the very best outcomes for our students. We are seeking to recruit a leader who will demonstrate commitment to our “Ambition for All” values by inspiring all students to achieve. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Director of Computer Science to join our fantastic faculty and strengthen an already excellent department within a STEM orientated school. This is an excellent opportunity to take control of the future direction of the provision within our over-subscribed school in the heart of Corby.

Our fantastic Computer Science department has a highly ambitious curriculum, making use of technologies such as Raspberry Pi to teach the core principles of coding at KS3. Students receive weekly Computer Science lessons from Year 7 to Year 9. Our key stage 3 curriculum combines a highly effective programming curriculum, alongside Computer Science theory and Digital Media (Adobe Photoshop and Web Design). Students can go on to specialise in OCR GCSE Computer Science or the Cambridge National in Creative iMedia, allowing them to choose a pathway which suits their interests as a technical learner. We run a highly successful A Level Computer Science course with a number of ex-students going on to study Computer Science at Russell Group universities. We also offer an exciting new vocational course at KS5, BTEC Creative Digital Media Production which is run alongside our fantastic Media Studies team. This course allows students to specialise in video game design and development, whilst understanding key media industry practices.

The Computer Science department is highly collaborative, making use of Office 365 to share resources and planning. Students work exclusively online, making use of Microsoft Teams and OneNote Class Notebooks allowing for a high level of engagement both in and out of the classroom.

You will be given all the freedom you need to be creative and you will be working with students who have chosen to be at a successful school. We welcome applicants with a teaching specialism in Computer Science and would welcome candidates who have experience with Music Technology (either in an educational setting or their own personal experience). We can offer you the next step in your career and give the opportunity to be both developed and challenged, whether you are an aspiring or experience middle leader.
