Are you an experienced middle or senior leader who is passionate about the teaching of English?

Together with an English Curriculum Leader and other TLR holders within the department, you will help to continue the successful journey in English to deliver an ambitious and inspirational English curriculum to the students of Workington Academy. Our ultimate goal is that every student has every opportunity to develop lifelong language skills and a love of literature.

The successful candidate will be pivotal in enhancing the academy’s commitment to the improvement of whole school literacy and in further developing the already highly effective post-16 provision in English.

As part of a forward thinking and innovative Multi Academy Trust who are committed to cooperative and collaborative approaches, we invest in our staff with excellent CPD and ensure that they have every opportunity to grow and develop. This role offers the opportunities to participate in the CET Leadership Development programme and subsequently, the newly reformed National Professional Qualifications.

The successful candidate will have:

• The ability to be an innovative, independent and strategic thinker with vision and fresh ideas.

• A relentless focus on school improvement, with a successful track record.

• The ability to inspire staff and students to further improve the quality of learning and teaching, and secure high-quality provision.

• A proven record of success as a practitioner and as a middle/senior leader.

• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

• A high level of motivation and ambition.

Upon successful appointment you will have a full and wide-ranging senior leadership role ideally suited to those looking to progress further in senior leadership in the fullness of time.

Workington Academy is a co-educational secondary school with sixth form situated in Workington, Cumbria for students aged 11-18.
