Director of English

Lionheart Academies TrustLeicester

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional professional to join our Trust executive leadership team as Director of English in our secondary phase. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, leadership and management of English education across our schools. We see this post holder supporting our colleagues to fully embed the aims of the national and trust curriculum so that all pupils develop a love for the subject and make exceptional progress, thus facilitating and unlocking potential in a wide range of other disciplines.

The successful candidate will have a desire to work in a creative and strategic role that is anchored in teaching and learning and offers ample opportunity to implement academic research and to evaluate and develop effective schema.  The Director of English will support heads of faculty in English across the trust and will be actively involved in the classroom experience of the children within our care.

This is an exciting opportunity to really make a difference to a wide range of learners and to work at the heart of a successful and supportive local trust, which has an unwavering commitment to continuous professional development and staff wellbeing. This includes participation in the cycle to work scheme, sponsorship for further study, leadership development programmes and opportunities for ‘golden time’ during the academic year.

Lionheart Academies Trust is currently made up of a family of four primary schools, six secondary schools and a sixth form college. The Trust was formed by Beauchamp College as an outstanding provider. We are very proud of our students; the progress they make consistently places us in the top 100 state schools nationally. We seek to build on this, further breaking down any barriers to learning and ensuring that each provider in our trust is able to embed excellence in all areas of practice.

Ultimately, we believe that any young person from any background deserves an equal chance to be successful in whatever they choose to do. We want to share our love of learning with all young people in our care; we are preparing our students with the knowledge and confidence to thrive in a competitive world.
