Job overview

We are now welcoming applications for a Director of Estates and Health and Safety on a full time and permanent basis. 

As the Director of Estates and Health & Safety you will lead on the management of physical resources to provide, sustain and develop a safe and fit-for-purpose learning and working environment. You will be responsible for ensuring that all construction work carried out on behalf of the College complies in full, with statutory legislation including being fully compliant with CDM regulations, Health and Safety Legislation, Local Planning requirements and Building Control Regulations. Your duties will include leading on and effectively managing the implementation of projects and act as the College’s lead client ensuring that the specification and the actual work on site delivers the original vision, considers teaching and learning requirements and meets all necessary standards.

You will be responsible for developing, maintain and monitor an information database containing drawings, schedules, statutory records and other relevant information, including a list of approved contractors for all services. You will assist with the procurement, implementation, monitoring and ongoing management of advisors, external partners and contractors to the College. You will ensure that 'Value for Money' principles are applied to all purchasing decisions in accordance with the College’s financial rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

A recognised qualification in Health and Safety is essential and an appropriate professional registration/accreditation, e.g. Chartered Institute of Building, Chartered Engineering Institute, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Association for Project Management is also essential. You will have a minimum of 3 years experience in Estates management and experience of managing and monitoring a team. Experience of managing a portfolio of construction and revenue projects including developing and delivering a programme management function to ensure outputs and outcomes are delivered to agreed timescales and budgets is desirable.
