Monkton Senior School is seeking to appoint a full time Director of Expressive Arts from September 2022 (for the right candidate, a January or April start may be desirable). He/she will lead a newly formed Expressive Arts faculty encompassing the current music, drama and dance departments, alongside digital media and production arts.
For an applicant who wishes to retain some other work in the arts industry, the role could be part time in recognition of the potential benefits this could bring to the school.
The successful applicant will share our vision for fostering a love of lifelong learning, both for students and teachers. He or she will be passionate about delivering an excellent holistic education and have a commitment to individuals, seeing this as the basis for students to flourish. He or she will see education as lighting fires rather than filling pails, and appreciate the contribution that co-curricular activities make to the learning process.
The Director of Expressive Arts will be responsible for developing, articulating and delivering a sector-leading vision for the Expressive Arts which seeks to celebrate both the individual Arts in themselves and a collaborative, creative approach to the Expressive Arts as a whole.
He/she will spend up to a half day a week fostering links with partners outside Monkton to ensure that opportunities are developed for pupils that reflect current practice in the industry and to work with the Director of External Relations to build mutually beneficial links.
