Job overview

King Edward’s Witley and Barrow Hills School are part of the Tudor foundation of Bridewell Royal Hospital. Bridewell has an ongoing mission to provide an inclusive, holistic and progressive education to children from a range of backgrounds. The Schools are each situated on wonderful, rural Surrey campuses with excellent facilities and between them provide a co-educational day (and in the case of King Edward’s, also boarding) education to pupils aged 2-18.

The Court of Bridewell seeks an outstanding finance and operations professional to provide strong financial and generalist operational leadership to both schools, and to partner with the Senior Team to deliver the vision of the Heads (both appointed with effect from September 2019) as they work together in the next exciting phase of the Schools’ strategic development.

Candidates must have a strong flair for business opportunity, expertise in finance, experience of working with high-performing teams at senior leadership level and a clear understanding of how to run highly efficient support services in support of an organisation’s mission. Prior experience of working in a boarding/day school environment is not essential but candidates must possess a precise, analytical and agile mind, creativity, strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, a collaborative, team orientated approach, a sense of humour and commitment to the ethos and aims of the Schools.

The postholder will also be Clerk to the Governors. This role calls for the performance of some formal ceremonial duties at events held in the City of London as well as administrative responsibilities in support of Governor business.

A competitive salary and family accommodation will be available for the successful candidate.
