Job overview

Director of Food & Technology

Main Scale/ UPS plus TLR 1.4 (£8,291.00 ). In addition, a TLR of £1,000. In total a combined ‘TLR’ value of £9,291

Full-time or part-time from September 2022.

This is a very exciting opportunity to join a thriving school that is rapidly becoming the ‘go to’ school in the locality. Our student numbers are rocketing with 310 Year 7 students arriving in September and a Sixth Form capacity of 400! Size equates to opportunities, innovation and a dynamic vision for school growth allied with a focus on investing in and developing our diverse and energised workforce.

This Director of Food & Technology position will play a key role in helping to take Cleeve School from Good to Outstanding and beyond. We are on a fantastic journey, inspired by our core values of Aspiring, Collaborating and Transforming.

As well as liaising closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will take a strategic oversight of Food and Design Technology. Ideally, you will be able to offer both Food and Design Technology as your own subject specialisms, but with a greater emphasis on Food.

Our vision is that food and nutrition sits at the heart of student well-being, academic excellence, enrichment and also preparation for adult life. We would love to see Cleeve School become a Centre of Excellence for food technology through all of our Key Stages. In this regard, we are already cultivating an exciting partnership with the Leiths School of Cookery. We feel very strongly that this should not just be the preserve of the private sector – and so do they!

The role is a perfect platform to develop your own career towards an Assistant/ Deputy Head role, and beyond. We will invest in you. Equally, a powerful vision for Food and Technology will see the specific role here at Cleeve develop. For example, this could be by creating a ‘Faculty’ struggle with other subject areas. The possibilities – as we grow – are endless! This will also involve further capital investment in the Food and Design Technology area.

The school is an equal opportunities employer and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and therefore expects all staff and volunteers, to share this same commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Closing date: 9am Tuesday 24th May 2022

Cleeve School is one of the most innovative, forward-thinking and dynamic schools in the region, and it is fast becoming the school of choice for families across Gloucestershire and Cleeve School staff .

Over the next few years, student numbers are set to move towards 1900, which includes up to 400 students in our state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre of Excellence. Scale brings amazing opportunities, for teaching breadth and also for career development. Our Support Staff are an essential part of our success and our infrastructure delivers a high support service for our students and school community.

We are a rapidly growing, values-driven school, that places staff training and development at the heart of everything we do. By getting this right, we know the education offer for our students will be exceptional.

Student outcomes are becoming stronger and stronger and our partnerships with some highly esteemed industry-based partners and the broader educational sector are truly transformational because they open doors to a rich eco-system of networking, opportunity and development.

Our Sixth Form Centre of Excellence cost in excess of £5 million and we have now built a £1 million Training Centre, which further underlines our vision for growth, opportunity and excellence. We are a large family, but also one with huge warmth and care, where every person matters, and we celebrate diversity.

We are on a wonderful journey. Come and join us!

Alwyn Richards; Executive Head.

Ofsted

“The overall achievement of students is good, and outstanding for some. It is outstanding for those students who need extra help and in some subjects, including mathematics. Students’ achievement in English and in the sixth form is good and improving.”

“Much teaching in all subjects and in the sixth form is at least good, with a significant proportion that is outstanding.”
