Tapton School Academy Trust is made up of over 6000 students, five primary and three secondary schools within Sheffield.  The students joining the Trust have a broad range of abilities and social backgrounds.  We recognise and celebrate different abilities, aptitudes and interests and believe that everyone can develop through dedication and hard work and leave our schools fully prepared for successful lives. 

The Director of IT will work with the senior leadership team, IT Manager or shared IT service lead for each school to quality assure IT in relation to strategy, service and systems.  They will support in the line management of the IT Managers and ensure effective contract management of the IT managed services in place.  The candidate will be accountable for the defining the Trust’s IT strategic priorities, including leading on project or development work.  

The successful candidate will manage all trust-wide third party contracts, and ensure value for money on individual school agreements. They will work with the Business Manager and IT Manager in each school in budget definition, management and purchasing in line with teaching and learning requirements and the Trust’s IT strategy. The successful candidate will regularly engage with the senior leadership teams and users across both the Trust and schools to support the ongoing development and delivery of the IT strategy. The IT Director will regularly engage with key stakeholders and users to determine their IT requirements. They will provide regular reports to the Trust Executive team, quality assure all aspects of the work carried out and act as a point of assurance across the Trust.  

The successful candidate will have significant experience of strategic IT planning and managing IT operations (services, systems and staff) across multiple sites, preferably within the education sector. They must also have experience working with senior leaders, and a large number of users with varying needs across a multi-site environment. The successful candidate must have a good understanding of technology in order to confidently recommend suitable solutions and manage IT services.  

This is a full time post with a core working week of 37 hours. However, there may be occasions due to the seniority of the position that the Director of IT may need to work beyond this to ensure that the needs of the Trust are met.
