Westminster Academy is proud to be one of the few IB state schools in London. First authorised ten years ago, we now have around one hundred and eighty Sixth Form students studying the IB Diploma and the IB Career-related Programme. Located in North Westminster, the sixth most deprived constituency in the UK, you will be joining a team which transforms lives; in 2017, over half of our Sixth Form graduates went on to study at Russell Group universities. As a result, our students and staff all believe in our mission: “Education is Success.”
We are looking for an outstanding, organised and innovative IB Coordinator leader to join a dedicated and successful Sixth Form Team. Working alongside our Director of Sixth Form (Pastoral), you will be responsible for delivering both the IB Diploma Programme and the IB Career-related Programme. Our Diploma Programme, offered at the Academy since 2008, offers real breadth; 17 subjects are currently taught in Year 12 and 13, and almost all are offered at both Higher and Standard Level. We were one of the original pilot schools for the IBCP, and are very proud of the three career pathways we offer, with students specialising in Business, Media or Applied Science. These pathways offer students who might not otherwise be successful in Sixth Form the chance to achieve highly and go on to top universities, and has grown exponentially in the last five years to become equally popular with the Diploma Programme.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, highly motivated and an excellent classroom practitioner who knows how to develop real depth of learning in their students. Experience of leadership within the IB Diploma is essential; experience with the IB Career-related Programme and/or BTECs is desirable. As Director of Learning, Sixth Form, you will be responsible for the progress of all students and the smooth running of the IBDP and IBCP programmes. The willingness to contribute to wider Sixth Form life is also essential. Most importantly, the role provides a real opportunity to lead a team that is making a difference.
What we offer:
- an innovative educational concept
- an excellent programme of continuing professional development
- the opportunity to develop personally and professionally
- the chance to shape the future of the subject and lead a high performing team
