The opportunity

The opening of Merchiston Castle International School, China (MCIS) in September 2018 creates an exciting opportunity for a team of innovative professionals to develop their careers at an exciting new co-educational day and boarding school in Shenzhen, Southern China. 

The school

MCIS will offer a rigorous British independent school curriculum for international students aged 5 – 18, culminating in IGCSE and GCE A Level. The campus is designed to evoke the ethos and values of Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, while creating the kind of innovative learning spaces in which a truly 21st century education can take place.  

The person

We are looking for an experienced marketing and admissions professional with proven ability to convert marketing strategy into results. The successful candidate will be an empathetic communicator with strong inter-cultural skills, who will commit to the needs of a growing community. You will have a full understanding of how a successful team manages the school admissions process as a result of first-hand experience.

An ability to start in January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter would be a real advantage, but we are prepared to wait until the right person is available to take up this important role.

Short-listed candidates must be able to provide a recent DBS/PVG check, police clearance certificate or similar record of non-criminality demonstrating that there is no reason why they cannot work with children. 

The application should be submitted no later than Tuesday November 28th. 

Due to national regulations, it is very unlikely that we will be able to secure a work permit or visa for foreign nationals whose 60th or subsequent birthdays take place between August 1 2018 and July 31 2019.  

Interviews of short-listed candidates will be held in the UK and Ireland from Monday December 4 to Monday December 11. In certain circumstances, short listed candidates living outside of the UK and Ireland may be invited to interview by Skype if a time can be arranged.
