Ashville College requires a Director of Marketing, Communications & Alumni Relations to provide strategic leadership for marketing, communications, external partnerships and community relations, with specific responsibility for Alumni relations, and the current parental community to enhance Ashville’s position in the marketplace. The Director will contribute to the College’s strategic leadership and act as an ambassador for the Department.

As Director of Marketing, Communications & Alumni Relations you will work closely with the Headmaster to develop and implement a marketing and communication strategy; you will undertake research into the sector; and ensure that marketing supports the delivery of the College’s overall strategic aims. You will also be involved in marketing to overseas families and agents, and the role may include some travel in the UK and internationally.

The Director of Marketing, Communications & Alumni Relations leads a small in-house marketing team and manages the relationship with external consultants.  They must also work closely with all stakeholders across the College; including – very importantly – our pupils.

You will have at least 4 years’ experience of working in marketing or communications; but this need not be in a school.  You will bring new ideas to the department; will have a positive can-do attitude; and will be ready and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life.

Ashville College is a co-educational, independent school for day and boarding pupils aged 2–18. The college, set in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, comprises a pre-school, prep school and senior school with pupil numbers totaling around 870, 170 of whom are in the sixth form and 100 are boarders. The school is a registered charity, administered by Ashville College Trustees.

Ashville College was founded in 1877 as a boarding school for boys by the United Methodist Free Church. Expansion over the decades culminated in a merger with Elmfield College, Harrogate, in the 1930s, by which time Ashville was the largest private school in the north of England.   The most significant development came in 1982 when the school become co-educational.
