Job overview

CTC Kingshurst Academy is a highly popular, oversubscribed establishment. We are currently undergoing an exciting and successful transformation in learning and teaching and are actively seeking an outstanding Director of Mathematics to help shape our journey from good to outstanding.

The academy was last inspected by Ofsted in 2013 and its overall effectiveness was judged as “Good” and improving. With 85% of observed lessons found to be good or better, the inspectors reported that ‘teachers expect much of their students and communicate great enthusiasm for their subjects. Students have great respect for, and confidence in, their teachers and this supports students’ learning well’, Ofsted, 2013.

Are you an outstanding leader of mathematics? Have you a   proven record of delivering excellent outcomes? Do you have a commitment and determination   to raising standards in mathematics? If so, this exciting new position on our   Extended Leadership Team will provide you with the opportunity to   significantly impact the outcomes in mathematics for all students at the   academy.

The highly competitive salary reinforces our commitment to   securing the very best; you will be an outstanding teacher with previous   experience of leadership within mathematics. We are committed to raising standards in this key subject and you,   leading by example and directing the broader subject team, will be pivotal in   shaping the strategic direction of the subject within the academy. We’re   seeking an inspirational leader with the ability to motivate and encourage   our students and staff to realise their full potential.

We welcome applications of all backgrounds and experiences and,   although we would prefer someone for a February 2017 start, we will consider waiting   for the right candidate.

We would encourage you to discuss the opportunity with Tracy Watkins (Vice Principal) or to arrange a visit to the academy. If you think you have the skills to improve the outcomes for all our students in mathematics then please apply.

Closing Date: 18th November 2016

All candidates are advised to refer to the job description and person specification before making an application.

The Governing Board is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
