We are looking for someone who can improve on that already outstanding performance across the whole trust.

We seek to appoint an outstanding and proven Leader of Mathematics who has high standards, aspirations, enthusiasm and the commitment to lead the curriculum development activities for Mathematics across the entire Trust and lead our outstanding Mathematics Department at West Lakes Academy.
This is an exciting new opportunity for an ambitious and inspirational leader who is seeking a new challenge and wishes to join an exciting, supportive and growing Multi Academy Trust in Cumbria. West Lakes Multi Academy Trust currently consists of one secondary school, four primary schools and was recently designated as the Teaching School Hub for Cumbria, giving the successful candidate access to the latest and most innovative CPD in the country.
The successful candidate will also join the extended leadership group of West Lakes Academy and have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills in an outstanding academy with excellent facilities and alongside a supportive staff and governing body.
Responsibilities:
The key purpose of the Director of Mathematics is to:
• Lead on the design of the development and implementation of an all through curriculum for the entire Trust from KS1 to KS5 ensuring all students receive a well sequenced mathematics education leading to excellent outcomes
• Lead the Mathematics Department at West Lakes Academy to ensure students receive outstanding Mathematics provision which leads to high quality outcomes at all key stages
• Be a member of the Academy Leadership Group, ensuring the high standards across the academy are upheld whilst playing a lead role in determining the policies and future direction of the academy.

About West Lakes Academy
West Lakes Academy in Egremont, Cumbria, provides education to children from 11 to 18 years old. We opened in September 2008 and moved into our brand new building in March 2012. As an academy, we are independently governed but state funded and free to all children. Like other schools, we are subject to normal OFSTED inspections and work with the Local Education Authority in relation to issues such as admissions.

The academy was last inspected by Ofsted in March 2017 and was judged ‘Outstanding’ in all areas of the inspection. We have a strong record of academic excellence and our standards are high; our GCSE results are in the top 20% nationally, whilst our A Levels are in the top 10%. We are never satisfied however and are always looking for improvements and evidence-based best practise to build on these outstanding results. We have an ambitious and inspiring curriculum, delivered by subject experts in the classroom and enhanced by a strong tradition of extra-curricular activities. We frequently achieve county and national success in many areas such as performing arts and a variety of sports.
