Job overview

Carshalton High School for Girls is a highly successful, popular 11-19 comprehensive school. We are a forward looking school judged by Ofsted in March 2014 as good in all categories and good overall.

Governors are seeking to appoint a Director of Maths for September 2016.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Vision and the ability to turn vision into practice
  • A proven record of raising achievement across a Maths department
  • Knowledge and experience of using a range of data to drive improvement
  • Ability to be an outstanding classroom practitioner who is able to inspire students and staff and develop pedagogy across the Maths curriculum area.
  • A commitment to improving the life chances of all our students; being willing to go the extra distance to do so

Applications are particularly welcome from dynamic and innovative leaders currently working in PiXL schools that believe in and put into practice PiXL principles on a daily basis.

The school has invested heavily in Maths and has in place a leadership structure of two Directors of Maths who work together but with different key areas of responsibility. Results have improved significantly in recent years and the candidate appointed will play a major role in continuing to drive improvement.

This opportunity is ideal for an ambitious individual who can inspire others and wishes to work as part of a vibrant, collaborative team; in the process developing their own Level 5 leadership ability.
