Altrincham Grammar School for Boys is a six-form entry 11-18 selective Academy School. This is a rare opportunity for a creative, dynamic musician and teacher to lead a successful department. The new Director of Music will have the ability to inspire and encourage participation in music across the school and at all levels. 

Working alongside senior colleagues as well as outstanding creative teachers and musicians, this exciting post provides a unique opportunity for a well-qualified and inspirational professional to lead this thriving music department in one of the leading Grammar schools in the UK from September 2020. 

The successful applicant will be a well-qualified Musician and will join a strong Department and be able to teach through the age range to able and receptive pupils. At AGSB, Music is a ‘performance’ and ‘practical’ subject. Our aim is for all students to take part in a musical performance at least once. 

We welcome applications from all parts of our community as we aspire to attract staff that matches the social and cultural diversity of our student intake. 

The new Director of Music will be expected to take up post in September 2020.  On the interview day applicants will teach a lesson and lead a rehearsal of an ensemble. The deadline for applications is Friday 15th November. Interviews will take place on 21st and 22nd November 2019.

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys is an academy school based in Altrincham, Cheshire for boys aged 11-18.

The school was founded in 1912. Altrincham Grammar School for Boys is a multi-ethnic seven-form entry 11-18 selective Academy School. It caters for boys who have been selected for a grammar school education from a wide area of South Manchester and North Cheshire. The academic results are outstanding and they place the School in the top 20 maintained schools in the country. Our GCSE results are strong in respect of 9/8 grades and our ‘A’ level results in respect of A*/A/B grades. The 2022 Ofsted Report graded the School as ‘Outstanding in all area’.
