Job overview

Director of Music / Cultural Curriculum

Applications are invited from well qualified and experienced music teachers who have the energy and enthusiasm to lead our extremely successful Music Department at St Andrew’s Prep. The post offers an exciting opportunity to significantly shape the teaching of music at the school as well as continue to promote and sustain the high levels of performance across all year groups. We have a strong reputation for music with 18 scholarships awarded to senior schools in the last three years. 75% of pupils play at least one instrument and there are four choirs and various ensembles including an orchestra and wind band.

With an equally strong reputation for drama and musical performance, for the right candidate this role could be expanded to include a wider responsibility for the cultural curriculum of the school.

This is an exciting time to be a leader within a dynamic and successful school.

This position is offered for a January 2018 start but a September 2017 start would be ideal.

For an application pack please contact Headmaster’s PA, on email: hmsec@standrewsprep.co.uk or tel: 01323 733203

Closing date: Thursday 20 April 2017

St Andrew’s Prep is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

St Andrew's Prep is a day and boarding school set in a stunning location on the East Sussex coast, tucked between the Downs and the sea, in the seaside town of Eastbourne.  St Andrew's is proud of its long standing academic and sporting reputation and offers all its children a well rounded and outstanding education.  Last year the school received an excellent ISI inspection report.

Our extensive extra curricular timetable ensures that our children have the opportunity to try new things everyday and hopefully find a passion that will last a lifetime.

Eastbourne is a vibrant university town just half an hour from Brighton and London is only 90 minutes away on the train.
