About the Role and You

Contract type: Full-time, permanent

Salary: Dependent on experience

Start date: September 2025

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Experience of teaching Music to GCSE and A Levels
  • Oversight and direction of all music and music-making across the school;
  • Overall responsibility for departmental policy for music (curricular and extra-curricular) and for
  • Maintaining an integrated vision of the different musical opportunities across the School;
  • Overall responsibility for the provision and quality of extra-curricular music;
  • Direction of a number of the principal School ensembles via before-school, lunchtime and afterschool opportunities;
  • Working with the Head of Drama & English to contribute to School musical theatre productions;


We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in music and Has QTS (essential).
  • A track record of musical and/or teaching excellence
  • Experience of leadership/management responsibility
  • Has experience designing and implementing inspirational and engaging schemes of work.
  • Is flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic and has a strong commitment to continued personal development.

Lucton School is a thriving, co-educational, independent day and boarding school set within the idyllic Herefordshire countryside, welcoming students from 6 months to 18 years.

Students at Lucton benefit from small classes, a friendly atmosphere and an idyllic rural location. The school provides an excellent all-round education which aims to bring out the very best in each individual. There are extensive sports facilities and a good mix of day students, weekly boarders and full boarders.

The Preparatory School consists of Nursery (6 months-4 years), Pre-Prep (Reception-Year 2) and Prep (Year 3-Year 5).

Senior education continues until the age of 18 with the Middle School (Year 6-Year 8), Senior School (Year 9-Year 11) and Sixth Form (Year 12-Year 13).
