Director of Operations & Deputy CEO

This is a unique opportunity for an outstanding and experienced professional to join the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), the premier global membership association for international British schools overseas as its Director of Operations & Deputy CEO.

COBIS represents over 500 member organisations consisting of more than 290 high-quality British schools abroad and over 230 commercial companies or organisations working in the education sector. COBIS Members can be found in more than 80 countries worldwide.

The Director of Operations & Deputy CEO will support the work of the Board, CEO and members within our growing global educational association. The post holder of this newly-created role will be responsible for the enabling features of COBIS business activities. This will involve leading specific areas connected to the delivery of the strategic COBIS development plan and ensuring that business processes are efficient and effective. In addition, the post holder will have a good understanding of day to day operations and will, as appropriate, deputise for the CEO.

The work of COBIS is led by the CEO and an elected Board which consists of serving International School Headteachers, Governors and School Inspectors. COBIS works with a wide range of educational stakeholders internationally and within the UK, including government bodies such as the Department for International Trade (DIT), where it is the only educational association deemed to be a Trade Challenge Partner.

In addition to a diverse, and growing, programme of events, inter-school student competitions and professional development opportunities, COBIS now offers “The Patron’s Accreditation and Compliance”, a kitemark for the best British international schools named after our Patron HRH The Duke of York, KG.

We are truly a global organisation and COBIS professional development and networking events for teachers, TAs, middle leaders, senior leaders, governors, marketing and development staff, admissions staff, bursars, business managers, and HR staff have recently taken place in Switzerland, The Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Uganda, Greece, China, UAE, Turkey, Qatar, Czech Republic, Kenya, Nigeria, and the UK. Forthcoming events in 2017/2018 are set to take place in countries as diverse as Cayman Islands, Malawi Oman and Mexico.

Working in the busy COBIS Head Office would suit an ambitious, energetic, highly organised and commercially-focused individual. In addition to high standards of verbal, written and numerical articulation, the successful candidate will have a deep understanding of educational matters both in the UK and overseas and will have managerial experience.
