Director of Operations

The British School in Tokyo is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the team responsible for the efficient and effective provision of the School's wide-ranging support services and to play a significant role in the School’s Strategic Leadership Group. This is a new role to meet the increasing demands of a thriving and expanding international school.

Specific areas of responsibility and oversight will include property and facilities management, human resources, Health and Safety and compliance with local regulations.

The Director of Operations will also oversee essential day-to-day administrative support services, including IT, student transport and off-site trips. The successful candidate is likely to be a strategic thinker, a confident communicator with good listening skills and a wellorganised manager with a proven track record of people and operations management in a multi-cultural environment. Expertise in human resource administration (particularly in relation to compliance with Japanese labour regulations) or in facilities management would be an advantage, as would experience of operational budget planning and management.There may be opportunities for the role to include further financial responsibilities depending on the candidate.

Fluency in English is essential; advanced or fluent Japanese would be a substantial advantage.
