Whitefield Academy Trust is looking to recruit a dynamic senior HR professional who will be accountable for shaping and delivering HR strategy to support the Trust’s strategic objectives . This role combines overall responsibility for the management and development of the Trust’s human resources (HR) team, related external partners and services to promote highly effective recruitment and retention.

As Director of People, the successful candidate will manage the HR Team and ensure the smooth delivery of HR services for the Trust’s 300+ employees. This includes talent acquisition and development, staff well-being and the development of routes for career progression within the Trust. In doing so, you will proactively engage leaders and colleagues to promote a strong and positive culture underpinned by the Trust’s values-driven approach.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to play a lead role in shaping organisational development and culture as the Trust expands, at the same time as sustaining high quality and strong compliance and delivering significant improvements for our staff and the children and young people we serve.

With an ethos based on enjoyment, achievement and wellbeing for all, Whitefield Academy Trust seeks to open up the world for children and young people with SEND. Located in Waltham Forest, the Trust comprises Joseph Clarke School (for children with vision impairment and /or additional needs), Whitefield School (for pupils with complex needs including autism, learning difficulties and sensory and physical impairments), Professional Development Services and the highly successful Project SEARCH East London.

We are expert in serving children and young people with SEND and giving them the tools, skills and confidence to move on to the next stages of their education and lives.


What are we looking for

• Human Resources qualification(s), CIPD Level 7, or equivalent

• Experience working in a senior HR role, Head of HR or HR Director level

• Successful track record of strategic leadership of the resources function and operational function

• Experience in leading and developing culture-building with a people focus

• Experience of compensation, including benefits, management

• Experience in leading and supporting teams through processes of continuous improvement
