Job overview

 Drama lessons are popular and an extremely important part of curricular and extra-curricular life at St Hilary’s School.  LAMDA is used to develop confidence and other skills, with classes currently offered from Year 2 to Year 6 pupils.   

We are looking for a well-qualified, energetic and enthusiastic Performing Arts Director to work independently and collaboratively, as part of a team.  In addition to Speech and Drama classes (LAMDA), you will be expected to produce and direct a Year 3/4 production, in the Spring term and a Year 5/6 production in the Summer term.  

In addition to this the successful candidate with be required to prepare pupils for participation in the local Godalming Festival along with other events in the school calendar. The candidate will also need experience of directing full scale productions and managing the department's budget.  An understanding for the requirements of LAMDA examinations is essential.  Additionally, the ability to teach dance and / or choreograph dance routines would be an advantage.   

Degree qualified or an equivalent in Drama, together with the LAMDA or alternative, relevant professional qualification is compulsory, as is attendance at a Drama School.  Proven experience of LAMDA teaching and being in a teaching environment are crucial, as is a commitment to high standards and the ability to work confidently and effectively with a busy workload.
