Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Rugby to lead our successful rugby programme at Stamford School. The position is ideal for an ex-professional or established rugby coach looking to build on and develop our renowned rugby programme.

The successful candidate will lead and develop rugby coaching for all age groups, while also contributing to the other major sports (e.g., hockey, netball, cricket). They will lead the rugby programme through coaching, training, and fixtures across the school week, including Saturdays during the autumn term. Additionally, they will deliver an intensive 7’s program in the spring term, where the 1st VII recently triumphed at the prestigious Roslyn Park National Sevens tournament. Pre-season training begins in the summer term, culminating in a residential camp before the school year starts.

Rugby has been at the heart of Stamford School for over a century, fostering a deep-rooted passion for the sport among our students. Our programme runs across all three academic terms, encompassing traditional 15-a-side Rugby, 7s, and touch Rugby, ensuring students remain engaged throughout the year. At Stamford, we aim to instil a lifelong connection to Rugby—whether as a player, referee, coach, or supporter. Rugby is more than a game at Stamford— it is a pathway to excellence, teamwork, and personal growth.

We proudly collaborate with professional Rugby clubs such as Northampton Saints and Leicester Tigers, offering players access to development academies and performance pathways, including the Independent School U18 Lambs programme, county programmes in NLD, Leicestershire, and the East Midlands, and England U18 and U20 pathways.
