The Rugby School Group seeks to create diverse and inclusive communities, committed to using collaboration, curiosity and expertise to uncover the best in every student and member of staff.  Equity and service are fundamental to our practice.

We are seeking an ambitious and dynamic leader who shares our ‘Whole Person, Whole Point’ ethos and will relish the opportunities and challenges of working at the two UK based schools in the Group – Bilton Grange Preparatory School and Rugby School.

The Director of Safeguarding will offer substantial safeguarding experience and in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, procedures and good practice regarding children’s welfare and well-being.  They will undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead as defined in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021.  They will possess excellent relationship building skills, a personal ethos of service and expertise to further develop a team of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads in both Rugby School and Bilton Grange (and where required, the international schools in Rugby Group).  Direct experience of the independent sector is not a pre-requisite and applications are encouraged from senior leaders with public sector and charitable backgrounds. Experience of working successfully with children is essential.

Rugby is renowned for its highly successful and innovative approach to education. As a coaching school we are looking for colleagues who are committed to a professional obligation to improve as teachers and who value personal growth.

Both Bilton Grange and Rugby are boarding and day schools in full operation seven days per week including evenings during term time.  Pastoral, co-curricular, cultural and sports activities take place outside normal day-school hours.  All teaching staff are expected to make a full contribution.  Accommodation is provided.

Bilton Grange

Bilton Grange is a wonderful Prep School situated just south of Rugby; we currently have around 315 children from 3 to 13. The Pre-Prep, housed in its own Edwardian buildings caters predominantly for day children from Reception to Year 3 inclusive; Year 4 upwards are in the Prep and are a combination of day, boarding and flexi-boarding pupils. Presently we have in the region of 50 full and weekly boarders, with another 35 flexi-boarding on a regular basis. It is possible, although uncommon, for children to commence boarding whether flexi or fully in Year 3.

Bilton Grange has always offered strong academic teaching as part of a broad education that few other schools can match and encourages the highest aspirations in pupils within a friendly environment. Our website www.biltongrange.co.uk provides a further window into our world and a video on the school within this site.

Rugby School

Rugby's principal activity is the education and care of its pupils. Its primary objective to develop rounded individuals who are also useful members of the community. All its assets, its income and expenditure are directed to that purpose. A famous independent school, it preserves many traditions including that of constant innovation. It values academic excellence while striving for distinction in every sphere. According to The Good Schools' Guide, it is the ‘number one choice among all the co-ed boarding schools’.

Rugby, probably more than any other school in the land, focusses on helping our students become ‘whole ‘ people – people who are multi-faceted in their interests, talents and ambitions. Here, we do not just say ‘ the whole person is the whole point’, we live it, every hour of every day.
