Location: Northallerton, Richmond & Stokesley, All ALT Schools

The Director of School Improvement will have responsibility for the leadership and performance of the secondary schools within the trust and ensure that the schools’ leaders receive the appropriate balance of challenge, support and professional development in order to secure the highest quality of education for all of our students.   

Candidates for the role must possess the following attributes and qualifications:

• Degree, qualified teacher status with experience of Headship or an equivalent level of leadership.

• Dynamic professional leader with a strong track record of school improvement.

• Experienced in the development of strategies and in ensuring their implementation through collaboration with headteachers in setting clear plans, objectives and outcomes.

• Ability to support and develop staff at all levels to achieve success and accept responsibility for outcomes.

• An innovator in educational provision through enquiry-led practice.

• Capable of forging strong relationships through outstanding leadership which promotes and enhances student success.

• Pro-active in addressing underperformance.

• Skilled at developing and refining informative reporting of schools’ performance.

• Confident and effective communicator who leads by example and with the ability to motivate.

• Ability to identify talent and to foster it.

• Disciplined, organised and capable of taking tough decisions.

• Inspirational and highly motivated in the achievement of ambitious standards.

Thank you for your interest in the Areté Learning Trust. We are a Trust established since Stokesley School converted to academy status in April 2015. Since then, we have been joined by Richmond School, Northallerton School and Mill Hill Primary School. Since the beginning of 2021, we have secured:

  • 1.5 million: Major CIF-funded refurbishment of sports hall and Sixth Form block at Stokesley School & Sixth Form College.
  • £9 million: Complete refurbishment and new build of Northallerton School & Sixth Form College.
  • £700,000: Installation of new 3G pitch and new lighting to legacy pitches at Richmond School & Sixth Form College.
  • £150,000: SALIX Grant secured for energy improvement at Northallerton School & Sixth Form College.
