London South East Academies Trust is seeking an ambitious Director for School Improvement to join our Trust senior leadership team. You will be responsible for delivering high standards and expectations across our family of SEND, AP and Mainstream Schools. If you’re keen to make a difference in education as part of this successful and growing Trust, we would love to hear from you.

London South East Academies Trust

We are a growing Trust comprising eight schools: Special, AP & Outreach and Mainstream Primary Schools established in 2014. We aim to provide outstanding education and training for young people, from EYFS to post-16, across the London and South East region.

We are a community-based organisation which has in-depth understanding of the local context and establishes strong connections with stakeholders and local authority partners, ensuring that children have access to high quality alternative, specialist and mainstream provision. The Trust is also part of a wider Education Group which includes a large Further and Higher Education College operating across seven college campuses, and employs 1,300 people, supports 12,000 learners with a turnover of £80M.

The Role

London South East Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Director of School Improvement to lead, manage and co-ordinate primary and secondary SEND, AP and mainstream school improvement across the Trust and make a sustainable positive impact on children’s learning.

Skills and Experience

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading and dynamic role in the development of education across our Trust.

We are seeking someone who will bring enthusiasm, resilience and a proven track record of working in senior leadership (at least Headteacher/Principal) in a mainstream, specialist or AP setting, or in a similar role in another Trust or public authority (Head of Service/Assistant Director).

The new Director will have a comprehensive knowledge of the current Ofsted framework, a clear understanding of policy and an appreciation of pedagogy as merits the seniority of this position.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the quality of education and support across the schools in the Trust, and will report to the Deputy CEO, deputising for him where necessary and therefore must be an influential and inspiring leader. This is a pivotal role with responsibility for realising and contributing to the overall strategic educational direction of the Trust. As such it requires strong communication skills, and collaboration with staff to embed this vision and ensure educational success through high standards of teaching and learning and quality assurances.

You will take responsibility for the work of school improvement, quality assurance, standards, and overall effectiveness across all schools in the Trust. With your track record of successfully leading school improvement, you will be able to fully utilise your extensive understanding of teaching and learning and how to raise standards for all.

Benefits

We are offering a highly competitive salary that is negotiable upon experience and track record and we strongly welcome applications from candidates from a range of backgrounds. If you believe that you have the necessary skills, vision and ambition, we invite you to make an application for the post. We will consider all types of flexible working: full-time, part-time, job-share. Please do get in touch with us to discuss this. Above all we are seeking someone who will align with our five core foundations of Success, Teamwork, Achievement, Respect, Service.

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 43 days (excluding bank holidays). There are excellent pension schemes, including employer contributions (Teachers’ Pension Scheme, Local Government Pension Scheme or Nest). Staff also have access to employee assistance programme, free onsite parking, salary sacrifice cycle to work/ bike loan scheme, lease car scheme and annual season ticket loan.

As the Trust supports a number of children and vulnerable adults, all staff are exempt from Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Accordingly, all staff will be subject to an ‘Enhanced’ DBS (formerly CRB) check, along with a Children’s Barred List check if in regulated activity. Any offers of appointment may be withdrawn if these checks prove to be

unsatisfactory to the Trust. Self-disclosure will be required as part of the recruitment process. If you fail to make a full disclosure or provide sight of your DBS certificate then your offer of employment is likely to be withdrawn. The Trust's DBS policy covers the recruitment of ex-offenders which is available upon request.
