Director of SEN, Disability & Inclusion (SENDCO)

Permanent/Full Time Contract/ Non-Teaching

Salary - MPS/UPS + TLR 1C £10,738 or Leadership Spine for exceptional candidate

Start date: ASAP

Are you a committed, enthusiastic professional with the vision, skills and empathy to work with our SEND students? Do you relish the responsibility of supporting our students with their learning in a school with an excellent reputation for inclusion? If so then read on!

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate who needs to be an enthusiastic and inspirational Director of SEND which is a key strategic role. You must be a team player and committed to all four broad areas of special educational needs and disabilities.

This is a very exciting time to join Waseley Hills. Following our very recent OFSTED visit (February 2025) we have been recognised as Good in all areas and we also have a multi-million pound Department for Education project to rebuild the school well underway with the SEND department moving into a brand new state of the art facility in September 2025.

The successful candidate must have previous experience in a SENCO role, hold the NASENCO or NPQ qualification and potentially hold the CPT3A Level 7 Assessor qualification or be actively working towards it.

You will lead a team which is empowered and dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment, where every student is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. The work is varied and challenging but very rewarding for the successful candidate.

This is a Non-Teaching post in recognition of the valued and specialist work that is involved, although the ability to deliver accelerated progress interventions in Literacy and Numeracy would be an advantage. A new HLTA EHCP & SEND Administrator (non-teaching) is also advertised to support this role.

You will be joining a School/Trust which believes in inclusion for all and will offer;

• Happy and dedicated students and staff

• An excellent induction and CPD programme

• Well-appointed and equipped modern classrooms in a new build (Sept 2025)

• The opportunity for further career development

We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • QTS (or equivalent)
  • Experience managing complex and neuro-diverse SEN and Disability needs from all 4 broad areas of need (Code of Practice 2015)
  • Good or outstanding teaching
  • A commitment to raising achievement of all students
  • The ability to successfully demonstrate wider impact in the life of the school
  • A Level 7 CPT3A Assessor qualification (exam access arrangements)
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviours
  • Knowledge of SEND finance
  • Experience of managing a large team of skilled Support Staff

Staff work together to ensure the best possible learning for the young people, by supporting each other through expertise and sharing so that our staff can be the best they can be.

Waseley Hills High School is committed to Inclusion.

If you would like to visit the school before submitting an application, please email the school to arrange an appointment.

Closing Date: Monday 7th April, 2025 at 9.00am.

Central Region Schools Trust is committed to the promotion of equal opportunities and diversity. It is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. The completion of an Enhanced DBS will be required and an online search will be conducted on shortlisted candidates.
