Job overview

The core purpose of this Director of SEND and Inclusion post is to contribute to the continuing development of Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College, and to lead and manage Special Educational Needs in accordance with the SEN policy and the Code of Practice (2014) whilst upholding the core ethos and values of the College.

Our three key priorities are to develop Quality First Teaching, Thirst for Learning and Progress & Achievement. 

As the named SENDCo for the College, the Director of SEND and Inclusion will be part of the Extended HLT (where the candidate demonstrates readiness to do so), and this post is extremely important to the subject outcomes of Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College and its continuing success. 

Teachers are the driving force behind subject development and hence, impact widely on the academic outcomes of the College. As Director of SEND and Inclusion you will be pivotal in supporting our vision for the College to provide high quality education for all our students. 

The Director of SEND and Inclusion will report directly to the Vice Principal and will lead and manage a team of Learning Support Assistants, Higher Level Teaching Assistants, Communication teachers and specialist dyslexia teachers.

It is expected that the Director of SEND and Inclusion will hold the National Award in Special Education Needs Coordinator (or be willing to embark upon it).
