Job overview

Sir Frederick Gibberd College (SFG) is an 11-19 school that opened in September 2019.  Having operated from a temporary site for two years, we are now moving to our state of the art, permanent building with 21st century teaching spaces and opening our highly academic sixth form.

We are looking to appoint a Director of Sixth Form (Deputy Headteacher)  with a proven track record of leading a successful sixth form either at Deputy Head or Assistant Head level.  As a Senior Leader in our school, the post-holder would be expected to be involved in all areas of school life and work closely with other schools across our Trust.

This is a unique opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff who are driven and passionate about transforming young people’s lives through education.  Joining the SFG family will mean you become part of a legacy that will last generations. Visits to our current site would be welcome and will give you the opportunity to experience our extraordinary school.

About Sir Frederick Gibberd College

Opened in September 2019 with our first cohort of Year 7 students, we set about creating a school which produced successful individuals with future aspirations and good habits.

September 2021 saw the opening of our much-anticipated academic sixth form in our state of the art building – our commitment to offering that continuation of quality education here in Harlow.

Our students enjoy the most varied of diets, with an extended school day giving them regular opportunities to excel in and outside of the classroom, from volunteering to learning British Sign Language.

Through our personalised curriculum, extra-curricular activities and experiences outside of the classroom, our students develop into ambitious, driven, adaptable, confident and self-disciplined young adults who are prepared for the constantly changing modern world.

We hold lecture style seminars at the end of every half term to link subjects to careers, SMSC, British values and SFG Heroes.

They find it a joy to be studying at our school. Every day at Sir Frederick Gibberd is exciting, rewarding and inspiring. We challenge our students, stimulate their minds and develop a lifelong love of learning in them.

We instil in our students good habits that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. We have high expectations of them. As a result, they aim high and we ensure our students’ successes in and out of school are recognised and celebrate with regular celebration assemblies.

Sir Frederick Gibberd is more than just a school. We are a community where students, their families and the public come together to learn, have fun and make a difference.
