Director of Sport and Exercise

Benenden is seeking an outstanding individual for the role of Director of Sport and Exercise. 

The successful candidate will take a significant strategic role in the life of this busy and successful girls’ boarding school, leading and developing our extensive programme of Sport and Exercise. They will lead a team that consists of the Head of PE (who has responsibility for academic and curriculum PE) and Heads of Sport to ensure that both performance and participation sport are delivered through a lively, challenging and evolving programme for all pupils. The Director of Sport and Exercise will teach a reduced timetable and contribute fully to the life of the department and the School.

Benenden has been one of the leading boarding schools in Britain for more than 90 years. We were founded in 1923 and are situated in 240 acres of attractive parkland in Kent. There are 544 girls in the school, aged 11-18, with approximately 180 of those in the Sixth Form. Benenden is at the forefront of girls’ education in the UK, with recent innovations including the Benenden Diploma, a bespoke curriculum for our youngest two year groups, and the Professional Skills Programme, teaching the Sixth Form skills for the workplace. We are an ambitious school, with recent developments including a state-of-the-art Science Centre and an All-Weather Sports Pitch, and we are currently working to establish a new School Hall and Music School.

Meals are provided to staff whilst on duty. The School’s leisure facilities, including a fitness gym and swimming pool are available for staff to use.
