Director of Sport (Prep and Senior School)

Brighton College Vietnam is looking to appoint a Director of Sport (Prep and Senior School) to start in August 2023.

Specific Teaching Responsibilities

• To pro-actively lead and direct the teaching and learning of Sport in the Pre-Prep, Prep School and Senior School.
• To inspire and motivate pupils in and outside of the classroom to enable potential to be reached.
• To co-ordinate and teach PE and Games to pupils in Years 1-10.
• To co-ordinate the weekly fixtures for all pupils.
• To lead and manage all staff who coach Games.
• To monitor and observe teaching within the department.
• To ensure best possible practice within the department and evaluate its effectiveness.
• To be aware of and implement relevant national curriculum developments.
• To be responsible for the behaviour and discipline of children during PE lessons in accordance with the school behaviour policy.
• To contribute to the program of activities available for ‘very able’ children.
• To manage the departmental budget covering the ordering and restocking of games equipment, stationery and all consumables.
• To be responsible for ensuring that all PE equipment is maintained and in good order and be responsible for ordering new equipment and managing the Sport budget.
• To maintain relevant online platforms as a valuable source of guidance for pupils and parents.
• To celebrate pupils’ work through displays throughout the department and around the school.

Successful candidates will be self-reliant, resilient and adaptable. Beyond this, candidates should have a strong academic record, including a good degree in a relevant subject. They must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in children and teaching. We will look for evidence of the capacity to contribute to the broader life of the College, and for evidence of passion and enthusiasm for the subjects in our curriculum.
