Job overview
The Director of Sport will ensure that sporting provision is delivered in a way that provides opportunity, progression and continuity. There are two strands to this role: management of academic PE and leadership of ‘extra-curricular’ sports. At present the same person is required to manage both but as the school expands it is intended that these distinct roles will be led by different people with the Director of Support Services having oversight for all manner of sporting provision.
The successful candidate will lead in the development of a good learning environment for the provision of sport, ensuring that all students develop a positive attitude to such opportunities. The teacher must be able to lead this important aspect of school life in a structured and coordinated manner with due regard to the ability of the students and the available facilities and resources and will also exhibit the following features:

Current experience in a similar role.
Possess excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
High level of awareness of relevant aspects of health and safety.
Outstanding motivator.

Previous high level of performance in a recognised sporting area.
Have a high level of awareness of current developments in academic physical education.

Harrow School Shanghai is a co-educational day school for students aged from 18 months to 18 years. The teaching is based upon the EYFS Framework and the English National Curriculum, culminating in IGCSEs for Removes and Fifth Form (Years 10 and 11), and A levels within the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13). The School is located in a modern custom-built facility, which accurately reflects the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai. The School combines elements of educational philosophy, practice and traditions from Harrow School in London within the context of the international minded-set of a diverse student body in Shanghai. It is envisaged that the School will eventually grow to a roll of approximately 950. As with the other Harrow Schools, Shanghai’s vision, 'Leadership for a better world', is realised by means of a characteristically Harrow approach to schooling which demands of students and teachers high academic attainment, involvement in a rich array of extra-curricular activities, and engagement in high quality pastoral support structures, particularly the House system.
