In addition, we offer an outstanding education to our pupils and, through excellent teaching and high levels of individual support, seek to enable them to achieve added value which is comparable with what is achieved in the top schools in the UK.

It is an exciting time for sport in Dunottar as the school continues to grow and we are looking to appoint an inspiring Director of Sport to lead this successful department into the next phase of its development. This is an outstanding opportunity to build on the excellent work of the current post holder and to develop further the school’s distinctive sporting culture.  The school strongly believes that mass participation and high standards can, and should, coexist and they expect the successful candidate to have the drive, determination and well-developed interpersonal skills to ensure that is the case.

They will be committed to providing high-quality sporting opportunities and experiences for all students and for ensuring that each and every pupil develops physical literacy and a strong exercise habit.  The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader and will create a nurturing and motivating environment for pupils and members of the PE department.

GCSE and A level Physical Education are popular subjects beyond Year 9 and take up of GCSE is strong and increasing every year, with some continuing to A level, whilst others participate in the accredited Sports Leaders Programme. The Director of Sport would need to provide dynamic leadership and support to the Head of Academic Physical Education to ensure excellent academic results are achieved whilst maintaining the high profile of curriculum Physical Education at the school.  They will also develop and enhance performance pathways for our sports scholars and ensure that our Warrior Learner behaviours of aspiration, creativity, curiosity, tenacity, independence, collaboration and inclusivity are thoroughly embedded in all aspects of sport.

To enhance pupils' experience of the subject we also organise a number of sports tours which the successful candidate would be expected to participate in or lead. The successful candidate will be expected to make a contribution to these initiatives as well as to the co-curricular programme.

Dunottar is a co-educational school for pupils aged 11-18 set in extensive grounds of 15 acres on the outskirts of Reigate. With a new Headmaster in September 2017, the school is on a very exciting journey.  The school is experiencing fast growth in pupil numbers and it recently announced a £6.6Million capital development programme to build a new Sixth Form Centre and a whole school Assembly Hall to accommodate future growth.

Dunottar is a great place to work, with a team of highly professional and committed teachers and support staff.  We incorporate best practice from independent schools and academies right across the United Learning Group, whilst retaining our unique, friendly ethos in Reigate where pupils are nurtured to make significant personal progress at the same time as achieving excellent academic results.  United Learning is an outstanding organisation which prides itself on providing a working and learning environment which encourages ‘the best in everyone’.  You will join a network of staff belonging to 60 other schools, with opportunities to engage with fellow professionals which far exceed what one school could achieve on its own.  Personal development and career opportunities are excellent.
