An immensely exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Middle Leadership as Director of Sport. This is an important role within the school, driving school improvement and modelling standards in teaching and learning. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward looking specialist to drive the enrichment and co-curricular provision.

Sport is an integral part of our co-curricular life with teams representing the school in Korean National championships within a rich variety of disciplines.

North London Collegiate School Jeju is a large, thriving co-educational Day and Boarding school for students aged 4-18 that is in its sixth year of growth and expansion. Our curriculum and ambitious academic ethos, together with our extensive co-curricular programme, reflect our close links with NLCS in London and provides a high quality British Independent School education in an international setting.

Our graduating students achieved an average IB Diploma score of 37 points (substantially above the world average of 30) and 34% of students scored 40+ points. Our alumni are now attending some of the world’s leading universities, from Cambridge to Yale, from Stanford to LSE, from Oxford to Imperial, and beyond.

The post holder will have responsibility for their area of the School, budgets, and resources. This position carries a reduced teaching load.

We believe that NLCS Jeju is a unique option for teachers. NLCS Jeju was the first NLCS International School to open its doors in 2011. It is located on the island of Jeju, in South Korea, but its proud heritage is from the United Kingdom, where in 1850 education pioneer Frances Mary Buss established the North London Collegiate School.

In just a few years NLCS Jeju has earned a reputation as one of the most prestigious and successful schools in East Asia. IB Diploma results are outstanding and the school’s graduates are attending some of the world’s leading universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League colleges.

In keeping with the NLCS philosophy, the curriculum is aspirational and provides significant academic challenge for students. Students sit iGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11 and follow the IB Diploma Programme through Years 12 and 13.

NLCS Jeju offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package including accommodation, flights, health insurance and free places at the school for teachers’ children.

Location

The school is located on the picturesque island of Jeju, in South Korea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also the first international school to be opened as part of the Global Education City on Jeju Island, which is becoming the centre of English education in Korea and the pre-eminent educational hub of Asia.

Jeju Island, 130km off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula, is often described as one of Asia’s best-kept secrets. Jeju’s temperate climate, natural scenery and beaches make it a popular tourist destination for South Koreans as well as visitors from other parts of East Asia.
