Job overview

The British International School Houston is a successful, growing school with a highly committed and motivated team of teaching professionals at its heart.  Our close knit and supportive team is proud of our school and community, educating around 1000 young people from 54 nationalities each year. Over the last 4 years our IB students achieved an average point score of 36 and our IGCSE students achieved 63% A*/A across all entries. Each year, a high proportion of our students are accepted into top universities around the world.

This is an exciting time to join our community. We have just moved in to a brand new, state of the art facility, that is one of the world’s most pedagogically advanced campuses. As a result, we are looking for an exceptional leader who is passionate about the holistic development of our students and their ‘extended learning’ beyond the taught curriculum. As a member of our Senior Leadership team, the Director of Student Life/Extended Learning will take strategic leadership of our teams who have responsibility for our Athletics Program, implementation of our strategic partnerships, Co-Curricular Activities, school trips, Service Learning, the Outdoor Program and MiLearning.

You will have a growth mindset, be able to deal with ambiguity and be motivated by participating fully in all aspects of school life.

In addition to being highly successful in its own right, The British International School Houston is a member of Nord Anglia Education. This means you will join an internationally networked team where ideas, learning and best practice are shared with colleagues around the globe and where professional learning and career progression are supported and actively promoted.

In return for your passion in delivering a quality education, we offer a competitive salary, flight allowance, healthcare and school places for your children.  Additionally we offer security and the opportunities that are inherent in a high quality global organisation dedicated to education and helping others to be the best they can be.

Nord Anglia Education is an equal opportunities employer and observes and respects the laws, customs and cultures of the countries in which it operates.

If you would like to be a part of our school community, and have the right blend of experience, creativity, organisation and passion, along with a vision for 21st century education, then we would like to hear from you.

Online applications should include a letter of application, CV and details of at least two professional references.

The closing date for application is 5th January 2017. First stage interviews will be conducted by Skype or telephone and final interviews will take place at the Nord Anglia Education Recruitment Event in central London in the week commencing 16th January 2017.

At Nord Anglia Education we are committed to providing a world class, safe, happy environment in which children and young people are able to thrive and learn. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils irrespective of race, ability, religion, gender or culture.

All post holders in regulated activity (having regular unsupervised contact with children) are subject to appropriate national and international vetting procedures including satisfactory criminal record checks from both Country of residence/birth and any Country of residence within the last 10 years.
