Director of Teaching and Learning

This is an opportunity to join Aldro at an exciting time in our history, entering our second year as a co-educational school and with rapidly increasing numbers on roll.

The Director of Teaching and Learning is a new position at Aldro and reflects the school’s commitment to providing an outstanding education for all the pupils.  The school’s leadership and management has recently undergone a restructure and the Director of Teaching and Learning will sit on the newly established Senior Management Team (SMT) comprised of key stakeholders in the school’s strategic development plans.  The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Head (Curriculum) (SLT), and will be expected to shape the school’s vision for teaching and learning, and to contribute to the Senior Leadership Team’s discussions pertaining to all aspects of teaching and learning. 

The successful candidate will be a proven and highly respected classroom practitioner in their own right.   All subject specialisms will be considered.  They will have an infectious passion for all aspects of teaching and learning, and will be able to inspire colleagues with their enthusiasm and ideas.  They will be committed to learning themselves, able to evidence self-reflective practice, committed to innovation and creativity in advancing outstanding pedagogy, and able to foster engaging dialogue with colleagues regarding best practice.  All teachers at Aldro are expected to make a full contribution to the wider life of a busy school.
