Job overview

A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly qualified graduate to support and inspire amazingly talented young people to realise their dreams in one of the country’s leading Sixth Forms. Recognised by The Guardian in October 2016 as the best performing comprehensive school in the country based on A Level attainment, we are very proud to have had one of the highest progression rates to Russell Group universities in the UK every year since the Sixth Form opened in 2012, exceeding 70% in both 2015 and 2016. This success has led to student numbers rapidly expanding, with 500 extremely able students currently on roll having joined us from more than 40 secondary schools from across East London and beyond.

With the majority of our students in receipt of free school meals and the vast majority the first in their family to progress to university, we instil within our students the belief that there is no ceiling to what they can achieve, inspiring them to work hard and dream big.

The successful applicant to this role will embody this ethos and play a central role in the next phase of the Sixth Form’s development. The position is ideally suited to a highly ambitious, intelligent graduate who is committed to the transformative power of education.

As a new position there will be considerable scope for the appointed candidate to put their stamp on the role, but we initially envisage it to include playing a leading role in all aspects of the university guidance and preparation programme, with a specific emphasis on supporting the large number of students applying to Oxbridge.

The job description and person specification is attached. This is a non-teaching role and no prior experience of working in a school is required.
