Overview of the role:

In order to create an amazing experience for our children, our staff are absolutely critical to our success each and every Holiday.

One thing all of our staff has in common is that they all want to make an impact in the lives of children. They understand what it takes to be a role model and know that while working with children is incredibly fun, it is also hard work and challenging. Still, being an Assistant at Discover Activity Camps is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have.

Our staff have the ability to be mature, responsible and dependable while also being fun and easy going!


Hours, Salary & Benefits:

Hours: 8am - 6pm. Mon - Fri. Fixed term contract

Staff will be contacted in advance of each holiday period to confirm availability.

Salary: £12 per hour (21 and over) £9 per hour (20 and under). Due to increase April 2025.

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the overall wellbeing and happiness of the children in your care.
  • To help deliver a program of daily activities suitable for the age range of the children in a safe environment.
  • To promote the ethos of Discover Activity Camps, providing an exceptional role model to children in your care.
  • Promotion of exceptional safeguarding practices at all times, including awareness or recording and reporting procedure in accordance with the Safeguarding Policy.
  • To be responsible for the security of the premises in which activities are undertaken.
  • To ensure that buildings and rooms are adequately secured upon departure through the use of door codes and locks.
  • Provide a friendly welcome to all holiday club attendees, meeting and greeting parents, signing children in at the start of the day and out at the end of the day.
  • Accompanying children around the site to different activities, supervising lunch and supervising open play sessions.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • If you have worked in a Holiday Club environment before that would be great but don’t worry if you haven’t!
  • Experience coaching young persons’ sports is desirable.
  • We also want to hear about any experience you have delivering other activities such as arts/dance/music/computing/science.
  • We would love to hear about any childcare/educational play certificates you may have!


Skills:

  • You will be able to work in a busy environment as part of a friendly team, interfacing with parents, staff and most importantly the children.
  • You will have the ability to adapt to different situations and think creatively.
  • Enthusiastic with a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Cricklade Manor Prep is a long established Independent Prep School located in the heart of Cricklade, Wiltshire. Cricklade is a short drive from the M4 and A419, making it easily accessible from Cirencester, Swindon, Malmesbury and surrounding areas.

The school is housed on an 8-acre site within the town, including a handsome Grade II listed manor house, a number of purpose-built classroom blocks and extensive sports facilities including astroturf and grass pitches, a sports hall and swimming pool. The Nursery is based in its own building set within a beautiful walled garden.

The Experience

Cricklade Manor Prep educates boys and girls from age 2 to 11. At the end of their time at the school, pupils move on to a wide range of independent, grammar and maintained schools.

The school aims to:

  • Develop the academic, musical, creative, sporting and other talents of each boy and girl.
  • Provide outstanding pastoral care in a secure, happy, nurturing environment, underpinned by principles of tolerance, kindness and respect.

Wishford Schools

In September 2017, Prior Park Prep joined the Wishford Schools group and Guy Barrett was appointed as Headmaster to lead the school through an exciting period of investment, modernisation and development. The school was relaunched as Cricklade Manor Prep in January 2018.
