Domestic Bursar 

Co-educational Boarding School, Dover, Kent


Are you looking for new start or a relocation to Kent.  We have an exciting career opportunity in this unique and iconic setting on a 150 acre site near to the White Cliffs of Dover.    


This role includes taking direct responsibility for the day to day delivery of business support functions such as catering, cleaning, laundry and stores. Carryout quality assurance and audits, monitoring and evaluation of external contracts.  As well as line management responsibilities.  The post holder will manage and deliver high quality and efficient support service to a 24/7 boarding school with 500+ students. As well as large summer school operation during our school holidays.  This is a varied role requiring excellent organisation and communication skills, ability to problem solve and work alone, budgetary experience and a good IT skills.  With a proven track record of leading the delivery of operations and support in an organisation. If you have a knowledge of working in a school, boarding or similar environment.  As well as management of contractors is desirable. 


Salary: DYRMS range (£38,632 to £48,000).  Full-time role that will require the incumbent to work to suit the business needs.  Accommodation on site may be available on site for the new incumbent.  House rental charge Inc. water, is currently £450 per month with no deposit required. About The Duke of York's Royal Military School

The Duke of York’s Royal Military School is a mixed, non-denominational, state secondary boarding school with sixth form situated in Dover, Kent. It is a sponsor-led academy supported by a single-academy trust. A smaller than average secondary school, it provides 500+ places for students between the ages of 11 and 18 when fully subscribed.

The Duke of York’s Royal Military School has roots going back to the early 19th century. It was first built in 1801 by the Duke of York in Chelsea, before relocating to its current Dover site in 1908. The school reopened as an academy in September 2010, becoming the first full state boarding academy. Both the current school and its predecessor have links with the military.

The Duke of York’s Royal Military School was previously only open to children whose parents were members of the armed forces in the UK, but entry was extended to civilian families when the school converted to academy status.
