Job overview

Verdala International School, Malta requires a Drama Teacher to work with students from Elementary and Middle school. The successful applicant for this position will also play a core role in establishing a Drama programme within the IPC programme in the Elementary school. Working with Kindergarten and upwards the applicant must have a broad range of experience and enjoy a variety of teaching methods required for this wide age range of students.

Verdala International School is located on the small Island of Malta in the central Mediterranean. It is situated halfway between Italy and North Africa. The school itself is located in the district of Pembroke on the edge of the urban area that extends to the west of the capital Valletta. The school is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and using this as a springboard to the future by honoring the unique historical setting and our positive reputation from the past to build a future that recognizes an ever-changing world.   • Hold a bachelor degree in a subject area relevant to the advertised position.
  • Hold a teacher license/certificate from a recognized government authority.
  • Have experience of or can demonstrate an understanding of international education.
  • Have experience teaching an enquiry based curriculum.
  • Are internationally minded.
  • Have education values which complement the VIS Vision, Mission and Educational Philosophy.
  • Have an official police check document from all countries worked in.
  • Have a valid passport and are eligible to receive a Malta work permit and residency visa.

About Verdala International School

Verdala International School is a co-educational school based in Pembroke in Malta for students aged 3-18. It is a non-denominational school.

The school was founded in 1976 and was initially sponsored by an American oil company. In 1985 the school reconstituted as a non-profit foundation, and, in 1987, it moved with 110 students to its current site at Fort Pembroke. Since that time, the school has grown to its current population of 460 students. Facilities at Verdala International School consist of four science laboratories, three computer labs, a small gym, an outside basketball court, a music room, and a football pitch. The school also has two former barrack blocks that housed British soldiers until Malta became independent in 1964. The current campus is leased from the government of Malta until the year 2072. Roughly 40 nationalities are represented in the school’s student body. Each year approximately 25% of the total student population is new to the school. Furthermore, the school is authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and is affiliated with the Cambridge IGCSE Programme.
