Drama Teacher

Main Pay range / Upper Pay Range

Do you want to work at the home of CAPA Juniors?
                                         (a bespoke Performing Arts pathway)?

This is a unique and rare opportunity to join our talented Performing Arts team at Trinity Academy Cathedral.  We are one of very few secondary schools nationally with a bespoke performing arts pathway running throughout years 7-11 – CAPA Juniors.  CAPA Juniors provides a pathway for those interested in a career in the arts and complements the strong performing arts provision available to all students.  Due to its strong reputation and the unique nature of the provision, it is not common for these opportunities to come up and so we are delighted to offer applicants the chance to become part of our dynamic team.

Aside from the unique nature of our PA provision Trinity Academy Cathedral is a successful and high performing secondary school.  Not only did we become the TES Secondary School of the Year Award winner in 2019, but we delivered the third consecutive year of remarkable examination results, placing us once again as the highest performing school in Wakefield and in the top 10% nationally for progress.  The academy is growing in popularity following its success and is looking to expand and develop, attracting the best people to work alongside the already committed staff to continue their journey towards outstanding.  Trinity Academy Cathedral is part of the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust which has been a successful partnership since 2016.

We are currently looking for a dynamic, passionate, inspirational and committed Drama Teacher, who has excellent subject knowledge and is able to contribute to continued improvements in progress and student attainment.  This role would suit either a newly qualified teacher who is an excellent practitioner, or an experienced practitioner looking for a new challenge.

What can we offer you?

  • An opportunity to be involved in the transformation of Trinity Academy Cathedral
  • An opportunity to work with the CAPA Juniors pathway students
  • Full support from a dedicated team of senior leaders and a large pastoral team
  • A first-class behaviour for learning system
  • Excellent teaching resources
  • Career progression and cross-trust working
  • An excellent CPD package for all staff, including a further comprehensive programme of professional development provided through the Trinity Teaching School Alliance and West Yorkshire Maths Hub
  • A range of staff benefits

You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people, secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious forward-thinking Academy Trust that sets the standards for our family of schools and academies.

Start Date: 01 September 2021

Closing Date: 9.00am Monday 24 May 2021

Interviews: To be confirmed

Trinity Academy Cathedral has been working in partnership with Trinity MAT since 2016, formally joining the Trust in March 2018. The progress made has been outstanding - a real success story. In 2016 the Academy were 14th out of 18 secondary schools (in Wakefield LA) in terms of academic progress and also undersubscribed.  Trinity Academy Cathedral is now the highest performing academy in Wakefield and has been in the top 10% nationally for the last two years. In 2019 we were awarded the TES Secondary School of the Year. In 2022 were were awarded 'Outstanding' following an Ofsted inspection

At Cathedral we teach our students to embrace our vision statement ‘Everything is possible’. We encourage students to be ambitious and inquisitive in their learning, understanding that resilience is a key quality to develop.

We are extremely privileged to have two pathways. The first is our broad and balanced Cathedral main pathway which most students follow. However, we also have our CAPA Juniors programme. This enables young people with a real desire to pursue a career in the Arts to gain a solid grounding in this field whilst still receiving a formal education.

As a result of our achievements and out approach to learning, it is a very exciting time to be considering joining Trinity Academy Cathedral.   We can offer candidates the opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and the senior leadership team, teachers in the school and other professionals across the trust (including the Trinity Institute of Education School and West Yorkshire Maths Hub).

The working environment is supported by committed, hardworking and supportive colleagues who are focused on improving outcomes for our students. As an academy we have high expectations of staff, we expect staff to challenge our students and themselves. We set high standards and aim to display these in all that we do. Working for Trinity Academy Cathedral is rewarding, we can offer a fantastic environment, excellent CPD programmes and a range of opportunities to progress. These ambitions are shared across all schools within the trust.
