Job overview

Concord College is England’s premier co-educational boarding school set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside with 572 students aged 13-19.

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic drum and percussion teacher from January 2023 who can inspire and enthuse others and who will be willing to contribute and add to our established extracurricular programme.

The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to work at one of the country’s leading independent schools and within a well-resourced and thriving Music department. They will be leading one to one drum and percussion sessions to respectful and hard-working students (between 13-19 years) who are eager to excel in everything they do. Alongside individual teaching, other tasks will include choosing and arranging appropriate repertoire and preparing students for the various school productions and/or music exams as necessary.

Currently there are 6.5 hours per week available of one-to-one teaching. There may also be an opportunity to be involved with our music extracurricular enrichment programme (i.e. running a music club once a week). Due to the casual nature of the role, however, there will be no set or standard hours of work nor will there be a guaranteed minimum number of hours of work, as hours of attendance will fluctuate depending on student demand. Lessons take place off timetable and after 4pm on weekdays, except Wednesdays when lessons can start as early as 1.30pm. Our rate of pay for the academic year 2022/23 is £36.75 per hour. Applicants should be suitably qualified and have a relevant degree or vocational qualifications. The ability to play and/or be able to teach another instrument may be an advantage, but is not a requirement for this post.

The closing date for applications is noon Monday 28 November 2022.
