Role summary
Inclusion Mentors at Compass School are an integral part of the Inclusion Team, whose role is to support staff in ensuring that the school’s Inclusion Policy is implemented in full. At Compass School, we believe that Quality First Teaching is at the heart of a strong inclusion policy and is the key driver of progress and achievement. However we also acknowledge that our students often need support which cannot only be provided in the classroom.
The role of an Inclusion Mentor is to maximise the potential and opportunities for all students (including vulnerable learners) whilst meeting their individual needs. This will include supporting colleagues developing and deploying strategies to ensure students make outstanding progress. This will involve whole group teaching, small group interventions and 1:1 support. This role will lead on the provision for all students with English as an additional language working with both internal and external colleagues to provide the support needed for these students to excel in their learning.
Each member of the inclusion team will have a specialist focus area where they will work with external professionals, ensuring that this provision is embedded within teaching and learning across the school, and impactful in the progress and development of the learner.
